Training – Private Pilot Ground School

Ground School covers a range of subjects necessary in learning to fly. It is a requirement of the Private Pilot Licence and gives you the necessary information and tools to be successful on the Transport Canada written examination but more importantly, gives you the confidence and skillsets required every time you fly.

Private Pilot Ground School is approximately 45 hours in length and you have a choice of attending in person or an online option… or both.

Topics covered include theory of flight, flight instruments, airframes and engines, flight operations, air law, pilot decision making and meteorology and navigation.

Once you complete ground school, you will write a practice exam and obtain the letter of recommendation to write the Transport Canada exam. PFC has an Authorized Examination Invigilator on-site, making it easy to book a time to write your exam that is convenient for you.

It is important to note that if you attend PPL Ground School, you can attend as many refresher classes as often as you wish for as long as you are a member. Students can repeat classes as needed, and many veteran pilots come back every few years for a ground school refresher!
